About Us: Management Team
Ian Curry - President &
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Curry spent nine years of his sixteen-year career
as a key leader of Entrust, Inc. He joined the company
in its startup phase and played an instrumental role in
creating a new market, ultimately growing Entrust to a
global leader in Internet security software with over
$200 million ($Cdn) in revenue in 2000. He participated
in Entrust's 1998 initial public offering and a secondary
offering in 2000. Mr. Curry's management skills enabled
him to be successful at a variety of executive roles,
including Chief Marketing Officer, President of Entrust.net
(a subsidiary launched by Mr. Curry in 1999), Vice President
of Investor Relations, and Vice President of Product Management.
Directly prior to joining Entrust, he attended MIT's Sloan
School of Management. He holds a Master's in Science (Management)
from MIT and a Bachelor of Science (Honours, Computer
Science) from The University of Western Ontario.
Dr. H. Chaim Birnboim - Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Birnboim is a physician, university professor, long-time research scientist at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre and the inventor of Oragene•DNA and GenoFix. Dr. Birnboim has thirty years of experience in the field of DNA research and is the author of 3 patents and over 90 scientific papers. Dr. Birnboim first attracted the scientific community's attention with his paper describing an innovative plasmid DNA purification process that rapidly became the procedure of choice in biotechnology labs around the world. He was recently named the Regional Innovation Forum's "Innovator of the Year" by Canada's National Research Council (NRC).
Sheldon Stevens - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Stevens has 15 years of broad-based business and financial
experience and was CFO with LuxurySquare.com, an Internet
retailer and with XStream Software Inc., an E-learning
software developer. Mr. Stevens has worked with Deloitte
Consulting and Ernst & Young Consulting. He graduated
from St. Francis Xavier University with a degree in Business
Administration. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified
Management Consultant.
Roy Sunstrum - Vice President, Operations
Mr. Sunstrum has over 20 years of leadership experience in disciplines including component engineering, manufacturing operations and supply management. Before joining DNA Genotek, he held Director & VP level positions at Nortel Networks and JDS Uniphase. After leaving JDS Uniphase, Mr. Sunstrum and his partner, Damian Hanel formed Sunstrum Hanel & Associates, a consultancy which has helped more than 20 companies in a variety of markets solve operational challenges, and enable sustainable growth. He began working with DNA Genotek as a consultant in early 2004. This evolved into his current role as VP Operations in early 2005. Mr. Sunstrum has become known as one of the leaders of the Eastern Ontario manufacturing community and has been on the advisory board of the Ottawa Manufacturers Network since 1996.
